Education

Christian Education fosters an environment for spiritual growth.  The purpose is to grow mature disciples through Bible Study and small group studies.  As United Methodists we believe that we all arrive here with God's prevenient grace – a free gift that we did nothing to earn and is always available to us, if we choose it.  Prevenient grace stirs up a desire within us to know God and respond to his invitation to be in relationship with him.  We are justified in grace by the faith that we have in Jesus.  When we receive our salvation we become justified.  Sanctifying grace is received as we become mature disciples who make other disciples in Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  We should constantly be striving for perfection in our faith walk as we become mature disciples.

Grace offers a number of opportunities for disciples to mature in their faith walk.

Sunday school for adults and children is held every Sunday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Children's Church is held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 10:45 a.m.

From Genesis to Revelation is a small group study that meets monthly on Monday evenings

Busy Bees, our senior Bible Study, is held every Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Bible Study is held every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday mornings at 11:00 a.m.

Vacation Bible School is held annually during the first full week of July

In addition to these regular educational opportunities, Grace provides workshops in other areas.  For the past few years, we have been in partnership with the Grace Institute for Ministry Leadership, Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, The Moyé Ensemble, The Chesapeake Choral Union, the Music, Arts & Drama Ministry of Grace, and others to annually host "Equipping Leaders for Ministry".  "Equipping Leaders for Ministry" is a one-day workshop to empower and develop leadership skills that support effective ministry within the local church.  On October 8, 2017, a Leadership Workshop was held and led by Pastor Slade.  This workshop provided church leadership with information on what it means to be a leader, what a leader does, the commitment and dedication leaders need to have to be effective in ministry, as well as team building skills.
